BEA Years 7 – 10 Resources Project
In 2018 the Australian Federation of Societies for Studies of Society and Environment (AFSSSE) – the national body representing the “Studies of Society and Environment” curriculum area through its affiliate bodies, ceased to operate. BEA was an affiliate member of AFSSSE.
In 2018 the Australian Federation of Societies for Studies of Society and Environment (AFSSSE) – the national body representing the “Studies of Society and Environment” curriculum area through its affiliate bodies, ceased to operate. BEA was an affiliate member of AFSSSE. AFSSSE before ceasing to operate invited member organisations to submit proposals for small projects. BEA submitted a project proposal, and were successful in receiving funding to compile a national list of teaching and learning resources to support teachers in their everyday teaching of Years 7 – 10 financial, economics and digital literacy. At the BEA Council meeting in May 2019, BEA affiliate Council delegates presented their State and Territory lists. These were edited and a national list compiled and placed onto this BEA website.
The list is by no means comprehensive but it does provide a good cross section of useful resources for the teaching of financial, economics and digital literacy across Years 7 to 10 nationally.
Using the list
The list is itemised as follows:
Item – the name of the resources or some suitable identifier
Category/ies – F (financial), E (economics), D (digital)
Year level/s – Year 7-10 (if the resources contains elements across the year levels) or one or more of Years 7, 8, 9, 10
Website – each resource is identified by a particular web presence
Type – each resource is described by type (eg text, game, lesson plans) and by important aspects of content
Teachers can search by any of the itemised aspects (eg Year 7) or select keywords to provide specific aspects (eg lesson plans, game)
Building the list
It is hoped that teachers who know of or use resources not shown on the list might submit these to BEA so the list remains useful over time. (Please note that in the editing process some resources submitted were not included because they did not fit the particular ‘headings’ chosen and/or the categories of financial, economics and digital literacy which formed the basis of the project.
This in no way reflects a judgement by the editor of the usefulness of the particular resource/s.
